CD Packages and Advert Case Studies

Today we went through the images that we took and selected a few that we will all be using for our front and back cover. I had started editing and making my front cover for the CD Package.

Photoshoot for CD Package.

For our photoshoot we wanted a white background so that she could stand out. We also wanted to capture images that would work throughout the cd package. We are also using some of the images that i have taken before and while we were filming to  incorporate into our cd package. Because of clashes and double booking with the media studio and tv studio we had to use the art departments studio which we had to rush and get our shots.

Print Pitch Feedback

The feedback that we got from our print pitch was that the idea of using the blurred lights links to our video because we had a lot of dark scenes and the ones on location had building lights around. We had to make sure the imagery and aspects used would relate to the music video so it works as a package. In the pitch we didn't mention the advert and this is something we went on to research about later on.

Today we started to look at different cd packages and adverts for our music video, looking at similar genres and ones that target our audience. We discussed a few ideas of how we would want the cd covers to look and are finding a way for them to link to our video itself.

Feedback we received from this was that the time lapse and effects used were very good with a clear story but some of the jump cuts needed a bit more work because they almost looked shaky. We did get some feedback on the lighting throughout the music video as some shots were very dark as well as being too grainy. In addition we could also sync up the music and video to make it look more professional.

Continuing editing the music video Progress is being made in each lesson coming up with new ideas each lesson, which we can implement once our first cut is done.

Today we got to review all the footage from the weekend and start to put them into our music video, experimenting with different cuts and styles. We matched our cuts to the beats for the starting of the video and the ending. This is where she is walking away and towards the camera.
Also we had discussed times where we are free after college and outside of lessons so that we can get extra time for editing and improving the video.

Video Shoot 3. [5.11.16]

Yesterday we decided to shoot at Leake Street and Wanstead Park for the fireworks. The shoot went well we got all the shots we needed and extras just in case, Also while we waited for the actress we had gone around the area to see other places that would be good to shoot in. For the fireworks because we wanted to get slow motion shots we had used our phones to record it.

Editing [2nd November]

Today we carried on with editing and so far we have put most of our recordings in from the studio and the field/forest. We have matched the lip synching with the actual music and now we are piecing together some of our scenic shots and still images to match the beat of the parts where there are no vocals.

In today's team meeting we talking about final filming times as well as continuing with editing. For our final shoot we shall be going to leake street and Waterloo in the morning as well as going to see the fireworks and film them in the afternoon. We have booked the camera for the weekend.

Video shoot 2 [19.10.16]

Today we shot in a field. we had recorded some tracking shots and scenic shots also a lip syncing video for the music video.

Today we recorded a few scenes in the studio and we done two shots with the piano. We used two cameras so that we could get two different angles to use at the same time.

Today we were told that our song would have been inappropriate so we had to choose another one.

The song that we have chosen is Memories by Anne Lan, but this is the remixed version.

We have also sorted the roles for the group:

• I will be doing the call sheet and permission from actor and costume designs. 
• Hasan will be doing the Permission for Location and Music.
• Usman will be doing the risk assessment for each location. 
• Each of us will be participating and helping with the storyboard

Music Video Pitch.

From this pitch we got a lot of feedback on our ideas and changes that would make our music video a lot better.

We had to change the choice of our music video as the lyrics were inappropriate, and we have replaced it with this new song (link below). Some feedback we got was to look at our case studies and use ideas from them, and to find any difficulties with the fast speed of the music video, which would be shown through by fast cuts, we also got questioned on how our music video would be different to other heartbreak videos, we will provide a different view on love rather than break a person down it builds a person up and can make them a better and stronger person.

[TRIP] - The Infinite Mix

The Infinite Mix exhibition brings together audiovisual artworks that are soulful and audacious in their exploration of a wide range of subjects. In all of the works in this exhibition the interplay between moving image and sound is crucial. The Infinite Mix includes works that address tumultuous histories and cultural tensions in ways that are thought-provoking as well as deeply entertaining. They have a wide variety of genres including documentary filmmaking, music video, experimental film and theatrical performance.

Closer Chainsmokers - A2 Media

Chainsmokers - Closer.

For this practice music video we had used the song closer by chainsmokers. After recording around college we went to the editing suite and used Adobe Premiere Pro to put everything together. We had synced the music with the videos and added effects and cuts between shots.

GOOD: We used different camera angles which keeps the audience entertained. The music synced well and the cuts go with the music.

BAD: We didn't have enough time to get more shots and edit more of the song, also refine some of the editing.

Analysis: Jay Z - On to the next one

In class we had to analyse a music video, the song was 'on to the next one' by JayZ.

• Performance based
• About: money, women, power, himself.
• Mainly close ups and medium shots of objects and people.
• Black and White, high contrast between the two colours.
• Jay Z: black leather jacket, chains.
• Props: Cars, Skulls, Basketballs, Speakers
• Women standing high up, wearing hardly anything with cloth flying.

Premiere Pro Practice Music Video

We had to make a short music video and edit it with premiere pro. For this task the videos were taken on a DSLR camera. We decided to film it in 2 places so that when we're editing we can join them together. In premiere pro we learn how to import, cut and move clips, create different effects and sync music to the recording.
